We Will Beat the Drop - Osho
Kogi United Head Coach, Fatai Osho, has expressed optimism that his side
will sail through the storm of relegation in the Nigeria National
League, NNL.

Kogi United are seventh on the Group A1 table with 12 points with three games to end the abridged league.

The Lokoja based fell 1-0 to Yobe Desert Stars in their Week 11 encounter played in Damaturu on Wednesday.

Mohammed Choky’s controversial 54th minute goal was the decider of the pulsating match at the August 27 Stadium.

Kogi
United created numerous scoring opportunities, but Destiny Ashani,
Amodu Imran, Chindo Babangida and Nelson Ukwa were wasteful in front of
goal.

The victory put Yobe - who have an outstanding match
against Plateau United - at a better advantage than the Wada Boys among
clubs behind the ladder.

Osho, who decried his strikers’ attitude
in front of goal however, believed there is much to fight for in the
league adding that Kogi United would give it all to escape relegation.

Quoted
by the club’s spokesperson, Wale Mustapha, the former Remo Stars and
Supreme Court handler said; “Its unfortunate, the result was
unacceptable, we created scoring chances, glaring ones, but we were not
too clinical in front of goal, and that cost us so much.

“They got their own chance, even though it wasn’t too clear, but make it count.

“It’s
hard to explain, we were just unlucky not to be scoring goals
especially on the road, but nevertheless, we’ll keep on fighting till
the last day, we can still make it out of our present situation, but
it’s a collective effort, we will review what went wrong and make
correction early enough for the remaining games, by God’s grace we will
beat the drop,” Osho said.

Captain of the club, Abiodun Afolabi,
who expressed disappointment over their defeat in Damaturu said the
defeat was a bitter pill to swallow.

Afolabi maintained that his team mates have resolved to fight for the remaining points to maintain life in the NNL.

Kogi United’s remaining three games include Adamawa United at home, Plateau United away and Jigawa Golden Stars at home.
