'He's Got A Great Leap' - Rotherham Boss Hails Defender Turned Goalscorer Semi Ajayi
Published: March 03, 2019With four goals in his last seven matches in the EFL Championship, Semi Ajayi has made everyone sit up and take notice of his goalscoring qualities.
The Nigeria international has been pushed further up the pitch as a defensive midfielder following the return of compatriot Michael Ihiekwe from his loan spell at Accrington Stanley in January.
For the first time in his professional career, Ajayi netted two goals in a single game as Rotherham United earned a 3-2 win against Blackburn Rovers, scoring through two headers.
Speaking post-match, Rotherham manager Paul Warne said: ''We’ve had more chances in other games and maybe only took one. Today, we didn’t have many, but we took them.
''Semi to score two headers has put a smile on my face. I give him no end of stick. He’s got a great leap, his timing’s been a lot better and I’m pleased for him because he’s had a really good season.
''The overall feeling is that we could play better, but it’s all about results at this time of the season.''
Ajayi has started and gone the distance in every single game contested by the Millers in the Championship, logging 3,150 minutes.
