Bordeaux Winger Samuel Kalu Asked Not To Report For AFCONQ Vs Seychelles
Published: March 15, 2019Bordeaux number ten Samuel Kalu has withdrawn from the latest Nigeria squad, less than three days before the invited players are due to report for international duty in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The Nigeria Football Federation and manager Gernot Rohr have called up a replacement for the winger ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles and international friendly with Egypt.
''Samuel Kalu is not coming again, he got injured. Ikouwem Udoh, the left back from Enyimba will replace him in the squad,'' Super Eagles Media Officer Toyin Ibitoye confirmed to allnigeriasoccer.com on Friday evening.
It remains to be seen whether Kalu will be named in the Bordeaux match day eighteen for their next league game against Rennes, with the Ligue 1 club yet to release a medical bulletin on the player as at the time of this report.
The former Gent man played the last 29 minutes of Bordeaux's 1-1 draw at Monaco last weekend.
He has started all the competitive matches played by Nigeria since the end of the 2018 World Cup, four in total, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
