Rohr's Statement On Stadiums That Will Certainly Embarrass Nigerian Federation
Published: March 21, 2019Coach Gernot Rohr is not impressed with the lack of football infrastructure in the country and wondered why the Super Eagles cannot play international games in the capital, Abuja, which is a damning indictment of the Nigerian Federation.
Since the appointment of the German as coach in 2016, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt and most recently Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba have hosted the senior national team's matches.
With the Super Eagles facing Seychelles in Asaba on March 22 and Dream Team battling Libya three days later, the playing turf might be in a mess before a high profile friendly against Egypt on March 26, that is three games in four days.
''In Nigeria we don't have so many infrastructures, we are searching for. There is nothing in Lagos, there's nothing for us to play in Abuja, it is not normal that we can't play in our capital,'' said Gernot Rohr.
''We need grass, we don't have grass and for a high-level football, we need a good pitch, so I hope that something will happen and we can play in our capital.''

The Super Eagles' Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles is the first competitive match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
