'No More Excuses This Time' - Samuel Chukwueze Confident Libya Will Fall In U23 AFCONQ
Published: March 23, 2019There will be no excuses for the Nigeria U-23 national team when they face Libya in the return leg of their 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Monday according to Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze.
The team coached by Imama Amapakabo lost the first leg away 2-0 and now walk a tight rope as they seek qualification to the football event of next year's Olympics.
Chukwueze spoke to allnigeriasoccer.com after the team's first training session at the match venue.
"Monday's match is a must win. We have no excuses to tell Nigerians so we're ready," the former Golden Eaglets star who was adjudged the third best player of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile which Nigeria won for a record fifth time stated.
"I believe in this team, we have everything; talent and hard work, it was just unfortunate we lost the first leg in Libya but we want to make that up with a good match here. We have to beat Libya.
"It will not be a war, we'll not turn it to war. The Libyans are also ambitious but we are focused and must win, no more excuses this time. By the grace of God, victory will be achieved," Chukwueze added.
Three Super Eagles players, including goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, are likely to be drafted into the U-23 Eagles for the clash vs Libya.
