Rohr Names The Four Strikers In Contention For Super Eagles AFCON Roster Spot
Published: March 27, 2019Gernot Rohr has revealed that only four strikers are vying to to be named in the Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations squad list.
The German had a final opportunity to test three of these players during the games in March before announcing a provisional roster and it is thought that former Watford man Odion Ighalo is the top choice in the pecking order of strikers ahead of Paul Onuachu, Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho.
''On strikers, we are very happy with what Osimhen did against Libya. He was supposed to play with us today, to come in at least but he played yesterday so he was not in the game. No injury,'' Rohr said at Tuesday's press conference attended by allnigeriasoccer.com.
''For Ighalo, his ankle is getting better and he was ready to help in the end of the match. Also Paul Onuachu.''

Asked if he has stopped his search for a striker, the German replied : ''We now have three good strikers, also we have Kelechi with a left foot.
''We don't have a striker with a left foot, it will be interesting with Kelechi fighting and showing a professional attitude.''
Of the four goals scored by the Super Eagles against Seychelles and Egypt, strikers Ighalo and Onuachu accounted for two while wingers Henry Onyekuru and Moses Simon netted the other two.
