Two-Goal Hero Onuachu Overtakes Osimhen As Nigeria's Top Scorer; Falkenbergs' Chibuike Opens Account
Published: April 29, 2019FC Midtjylland star Paul Onuachu has overtaken Sporting Charleroi's Victor Osimhen in the race for Nigeria's top scorer in Europe.
Before taking to the pitch in Monday evening's game against Nordsjælland, the lanky striker had found the net 14 times this season, one less than the Wolfsburg loanee.
Onuachu bagged a brace today to take his tally for the season to 16 goals in the Danish Superliga and now has 24 points in the European Golden Shoe rankings, 1.5 more than his nearest Nigerian challenger Osimhen.
Four minutes into the second half, the number 33 volleyed home the equaliser with his left foot from inside the box and netted the game-winning goal shortly past the hour mark with a close-range header.
He ended his seven-game goal drought in the league after netting for the first time since February 24, 2019.
Still in Scandinavia, John Chibuike opened his goalscoring account for Falkenbergs as they suffered a 3 - 1 defeat against GIF Sundsvall in a Swedish Allsvenskan clash at NP3 Arena (Sundsvall).
Chibuike converted from the spot to half the deficit four minutes from time. It was his third appearance for his new employer.
