Rohr Puts Timescale On Return Of Kalu; Bordeaux Winger In Super Eagles Provisional AFCON Squad
Published: May 05, 2019Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr believes Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu will return to full training at his French Ligue 1 club this week.
Kalu has been sidelined by a hamstring injury for close to two months, which kept him out of the Bordeaux squad in their last seven matches, but there's light at the end of the tunnel as he has resumed individual training.
Rohr admitted that the five-capped Nigeria international was psychologically shaken after his mother was kidnapped in February as she drove home, and confirmed that he will be called up to the Super Eagles pre-AFCON training camp in Asaba.
''I have news regularly, I am very close to him since this problem. We tried to support him, we took advice from Obi Mikel. There is a lot of solidarity,'' said Rohr to Goal.com France two days ago.
''He is better even if this story has physically affected him because he did not sleep for a week.
''He has resumed training, he will return to the group of Girondins next week according to what I understand.
''I hope he can be fit and play two or three matches before joining us.''
Lille, Reims and Caen are Bordeaux's last three opponents in Ligue 1 this term.
