Chaves in advanced talks to sign Arsenal old boy Nwakali; Czech and Danish clubs also keen

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit G.D. Chaves are working on a deal to sign former Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali this summer.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner has been tipped for the exit door after Ponferradina were relegated from the Segunda División at the end of last season.
Nwakali was a big fish in a small pond at Ponferradina and was arguably their most outstanding player in what was a dismal season for Los Blanquiazules.
Chaves have opened talks with Ponferradina over the signing of the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles captain, and there's every indication that an agreement is close to being struck between the two clubs.
Chaves are also thrashing out personal terms with Nwakali, who is insisting on signing only a two-year deal.
This time around, the central midfielder has avoided entering talks with second-tier European clubs in order to improve his chances of a return to the international fold.
The ASJ Academy product is prioritizing a move to a top division club where he can have playing time next season.
Czech and Danish clubs are also keen on Nwakali but are lagging behind Chaves in the race for the services of the 25-year-old.
Nwakali has experienced Portuguese football before, making sixteen appearances for Porto B in the 2018-2019 campaign, on loan from Arsenal.
He has entered the last twelve months of his contract with Ponferradina.
