Made in Chelsea: Omeruo poses with Mourinho during Kasimpasa's league game against Fenerbahce

Kenneth Omeruo has taken to social media to share a picture with Jose Mourinho taken during Kasımpaşa's Super Lig clash with Fenerbahce on Sunday, September 15.

The experienced central defender was present at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadyumu as a spectator, having been left out of the matchday squad by manager Sami Uğurlu.

Both Mourinho and Omeruo have ties to Chelsea as the Portuguese tactician led the club during two different spells and the Nigerian defender was the longest-serving player on a first-team contract before leaving in 2019.

Signed as one for the future after starring at the 2011 Fifa U20 World Cup, Omeruo was unable to make his senior debut for Chelsea despite having a work permit and was farmed out on loan to five different European clubs, namely ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasımpaşa, Alanyaspor and Leganés.

The centre-back appeared in one Premier League 2 game for Chelsea, against West Ham United in November 2013.

He returned for a second spell at Middlesbrough for the 2014-2015 season after he was told by Mourinho and technical director Michael Emenalo that Boro was the best place to continue his development.

The respected Portuguese coach monitored Omeruo in pre-season at Cobham before giving the green light for his move back to Middlesbrough.

Without Omeruo in the Kasımpaşa squad, Mourinho's Fenerbahce secured a 2-0 win to return to the top of the Super Lig table.
