Golden Eaglets Camp News : Players Demoralized; Top Scorer Punished; Coaches Harassed By NFF
Published: April 24, 2019Allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm that the Golden Eaglets camp is in disarray ahead of their crucial semifinal showdown against Guinea at the ongoing U17 Africa Cup of Nations and this has to do with interference by the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation.
A board member of the Nigerian Federation was recently in touch with the team and blasted the coaches for not recruiting the best players and taking substandard players to Tanzania.
If he has his way, the football administrator based in the country's financial capital has vowed to drop ninety five percent of the players named on the roster for the 2019 U17 AFCON and it has been suggested that he is preparing the Zenith Bank U15 Boys to replace majority of the players.
Heading into today's game, the players are demoralized because they have not received a single dime from the NFF as match bonuses and camp allowances, and they were also criticized for their lackadaisical performance in their first three games.
A top Nigerian Federation official who visited the team in Tanzania last week had promised the players fifty dollars per day as camp allowance.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eaglets top scorer in the WAFU-UFOA Zone B qualifiers, Olakunle Olusegun was dropped from the starting lineup against Uganda because the coaches wanted to punish him for missing several scoring opportunities against Tanzania and Angola.
The coaching crew led by Manu Garba have opined that he performed better when he came off the bench in the second half against Uganda.
