Chelsea still retain an interest in signing 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner
Published: August 09, 2024Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea still retain an interest in signing Victor Osimhen amid the imminent arrival of Samu Omorodion.
There have been reports that the signing of the 2024 Olympic Games gold medalist would affect the Blues' pursuit of the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner.
In contrast to the widespread reports, Romano has suggested that Chelsea could still add one more striker after the capturing of Omorodion and as a result are still keen on signing Osimhen.
He stated that a deal will only be struck if the Nigerian striker changes his stance on joining on loan with an option to buy and also reduce his hefty salary which the English club cannot afford at the moment.
The Blues have already splashed more than €100m on the acquisition of players this summer and have a number of players on a high wages which is now proven to be an impediment to strike a deal with Napoli for the Super Eagles star man.
They are still hopeful that the Italian side will help them get rid of Romelu Lukaku who is one of the highest earners but will still need Osimhen and his representatives to change their current stance.
