Published: August 10, 2024As published on the Confederation of African Football website, the Super Eagles 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification games against Benin and Rwanda have new kickoff times and dates.
Nigeria are seeking to participate at AFCON for the 21st time and have been grouped in Group D which will see them face Benin being led by the country's former head coach Gernot Rohr as well as Libya and Rwanda.
They will kick-off their qualification campaign against the Cheetahs on September 7 and it has now been confirmed that the encounter will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State with the match scheduled to start at 1700 hours.
It would be the second encounter between both sides this year as they had earlier met in the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualification games at the Stade Félix-Houphouët-Boigny, Ivory Coast in June with Benin triumphing 2-1.
The three-time African champions will then proceed to face Rwanda on September 10 at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali, Rwanda and the match is expected to kickoff at 1400 hours.
The competition will take place in Morocco and only two teams from each qualification group will qualify for the tournament, while only one team in the group containing the host country will gain qualification due to the host qualifying automatically.
The Nigeria Football Federaton have not yet appointed a substantive coach for the Super Eagles, less than a month before they return to action.
