Osimhen accepts to join Galatasaray but wants break clause for January inserted into deal
Published: September 02, 2024Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has agreed to join 24-time Turkish champions Galatasaray on a season-long loan with parties now putting final touches to the deal.
The Süper Lig defending champions had approached Napoli over the possibility of loaning the lanky striker earlier today and the Italian outfit agreed with their proposal.
For a deal to get done, the consent of the 25-year-old was needed, and that has not been gotten, but the Nigerian forward is asking for some clauses to be inserted into the contract.
He has asked that a break clause be included in the deal, which will allow him to move to a top club if the opportunity arises in January, and he wants Napoli to reduce his asking price from €130m to €75m.
Galatasaray have readied a flight that will take Osimhen to Istanbul tonight to get a deal done as soon as possible, though the Turkish transfer window doesn't close till next week.
The İstanbul-based outfit are not showing any sign of relinquishing their Süper Lig crown which they have won in the past two seasons due to the additions they have made to their squad this summer.
They already boast of one of the best finishers in the league in Mauro Icardi, who won the top scorer award last season, and adding Osimhen, who they plan on using with the Argentine striker, could make them more formidable.
