Published: September 05, 2024The Falconets lost 3-1 to Germany in their second game at the U20 Fifa Women's World Cup.
Allnigeriasoccer.com runs the rule over the Nigerian players in action.
The starters
Goalkeeper: Shukurat Bakare: She was hardly at fault for any of the goals but yet again displayed her poor judgment towards crosses late on in the game. 4.5/10
Defenders
Oluchi Ohaegbulem: The skipper got dribbled past easily for the assist for Germany's first goal and couldn't keep up with Cora Zicai throughout the contest. 5/10
Comfort Folorunsho: She was caught ball-watching for the German third goal but was hardly blameworthy before then, and she displayed her calmness throughout the clash. 5.5/10
Shukurat Oladipo: She was Nigeria's best defender in the first half, winning the majority of her duels, made vital blocks but had shaky moments in the second and was also at fault for Germany's third. 6/10
Jumoke Alani: She lost her marker at the rear post for the opener and was also blameworthy for Germany's second. She won most of her defensive duels, but her negligence, particularly at the far post, was laid bare.5/10
Midfielders and forwards
Chioma Olise: She was decent alongside her deep-playing defensive midfield partner, Yina, and also worked her socks off. 6/10
Adoo Yina: She made a vital block to deny Germany from getting a two-goal cushion and was as hardworking as she was in the first game against South Korea. 6.5/10
Amina Bello: She was the most advanced midfielder but couldn't influence the game enough and was rightly substituted before the half our mark. 5/10
Rofiat Imuran: It was a poor outing from the left back cum forward whose decision-making was questionable and should have scored. 4/10
Chiamaka Okwuchukwu: She led the line well with her pace and movement being a worry for the German defence. She deservedly got on the clean sheet 7.5/10
Flourish Sabastine: She looked brilliant at times but failed to come up with any notable moment in the game. 5/10
The substitutes
Goodness Osigwe: She came close to getting an assist when she came on but was largely inefficient.4.5/10
Opeyemi Ajakaye: She did nothing noteworthy when brought on. 4/10
Janet Akekoromowei: She came on very late in the encounter to be assessed. N/A
